Barrel Racing

Sahara’s progress. 2nd, 3rd and 4th practice at the pattern.  1st practice was last May 2011… :p Deep sand is not helping us but probably making her stronger in the long run. Thinking of getting Hidalgo and Frisky  so they can get some sort of exercise instead of just staying in the pasture. Hidalgo’s legs should be ready now to walk and hopefully will get strong again so he can do more and keep his hooves in shape. If Frisky’s weight is ok well see how much she wants to do. Think it will be a good idea as Sahara seems to enjoy company and will have more fun.

People think Sahara is to slow and inexperienced, they could be right but nothing wrong with trying. I have never joined a competition either so we will see. Sahara has been resting for 4 days, was suppose to be practicing the pass few days but can’t, maybe something forcing me to give her the rest she needs. Will see how she does next time we practice.  18 days left. XD We need all the luck we can get.

You Said Run

Let my cousin ride Sahara but he has never ridden her bitless and was afraid also we have different ways of doing things but he asked Sahara to run haha and she did. Bing was sooo happy having lovely Sahara gallop toward him. We are a great help laughing in the background

Sahara is Bored

Went to see Sahara today. She was really interested in me and her affection was suffocating haha meaning. She is BORED. She is around other horses but she is use to being in a pasture all the time and being able to move about for now she isn’t. She is not alone though. So I went to see her to give her a bath, then tomorrow we may have a trail ride but I don’t know they other people that well.

Been so long since I have drawn a horse and a very very long time since I have drawn a whole body. Usually I just draw heads and necks. I am trying to remember…by looking at my old pictures and deviant account it could be 2009. 0.0 that longs since I drew a body. Pretty proud but I know I will look back at it one day and go tsk tsk haha. I spent maybe 3-4 hours on this tweaking until I got to where I liked it. I tried to imagine what kind of horse would Sahara drool over…and me to haha. I think this is drool worthy. Done with MyPaint

 

Lot of Activity

Sahara has been moved to her old home as we will try to join a barrel race competition. She seems a bit bored but likes being around the other horses. We had our first practice. Kind of awkward and embarrassing being watched. She turns early. Stirrups were to long as don’t have buckle to keep them locked in place. I use a rope but it has been slipping causing it to give into my weight and lengthen over time. So we did ok but non horsey friend said we were going the same speed as other but I bounced a lot. ^^ But she wasn’t sure if it was because I was posting or what.

 

Sahara a while back was a bit sensitive at toes so let her rest but all better now.

Here is a video of Bing being ridden before having injury. He is doing much better now though. Love riding him even if I am to tall for him haha.

 

Going Bitless

I’m trying to go and stay bitless with Sahara. Sahara is bigger and faster than Hidalgo or Frisky so it is a bit more intimidating.

First Trail Ride with Sahara

It was really fun. Most likely the hardest thing she has done since he long walk from her old owners house to ours. She seemed to enjoy it though. We were both sore the next day.
